Why do we treat self-care like a shopping list instead of addressing the basics?

I’ve noticed a trend lately where self-care for guys seems to revolve around buying the latest tech or gear. Don’t get me wrong, I love my VR headset and anime marathons, but I’m starting to wonder if we’re missing the point. Why do we jump straight to gadgets instead of tackling something as simple as fixing our sleep schedules?

Sleep feels like one of those foundational things that impacts everything else energy, focus, even how much we enjoy our hobbies. But it’s so much easier to order a new gadget online than to commit to a consistent bedtime. Has anyone else found themselves doing this? What helped you shift focus from buying stuff to building healthier habits, especially around rest?
