Why Does "Put Yourself Out There" Feel So Awkward?

I’ve always wondered why dating advice sounds like a sales pitch. “Put yourself out there!” like I’m some telemarketer cold-calling for romance instead of cable packages. It’s not like I’m handing out flyers for my heart, right?

Maybe it’s because I’m more comfortable writing music or geeking out over animal facts than navigating small talk with strangers. Does anyone else feel this way? How do you “put yourself out there” without it feeling forced or, well, weird? I’d love to hear how you balance being genuine while still making connections.
