Hey everyone,
So, I’ve been thinking a lot about how diet plays into hair health, especially since I’ve noticed a few more strands than usual in my comb lately. I know genetics and stress are big factors, but I’m curiouswhat’s the deal with food? Can what we eat really help keep our hair from bailing on us?
From what I’ve gathered, protein is a big one. Hair is basically made of keratin, which is a protein, so it makes sense that skimping on it could lead to weaker strands. I’ve been trying to up my intake with things like eggs, fish, and even the occasional protein shake after a surf session.
Then there’s iron and zincapparently, low levels of these can mess with hair growth. I’ve started adding more spinach, lentils, and nuts to my meals, which feels like a win-win since they’re great for overall fitness too.
Oh, and omega-3s! I’ve heard they’re not just good for your brain but also for keeping your scalp healthy. Since I’m already eating a lot of salmon and chia seeds for my fitness goals, I’m hoping that’s doing double duty for my hair.
But here’s the thingI’m not sure if I’m overthinking it or if there’s more to it. Has anyone else tweaked their diet and noticed a difference? Or are there other nutrients I should be paying attention to?
Also, side note: does anyone else feel like their hair takes a beating after surfing? Saltwater and sun exposure can’t be doing it any favors, right? Maybe there’s a connection there too.
Would love to hear your thoughts or any tips you’ve picked up along the way!
