So I spend most of my winter on the mountain, and I figured my legs were pretty solid from all that boarding. But lately, I’ve been mixing in more gym sessions to build up my strength and endurance, and I’m hitting some weird walls. My quads and calves can handle long runs, but my hip flexors get crazy tight after heavy squat days it’s like they weren’t even on my radar before. Also, my grip strength gives out way sooner than I’d expect when I’m doing pull-ups or rows, which doesn’t make much sense given how I’m used to holding an edge on steep terrain. Has anyone else run into these kinds of imbalances? What helped you even things out without losing your sport-specific edge?
