Transitioning from Lab Work to Extreme Sports – What Should I Expect?

So, I spend most of my days in a lab, tweaking sound edits and running tests, but outside of work, I’ve always been drawn to extreme sports. Recently, I’ve been pushing myself to try more adrenaline-heavy activities like rock climbing and parkour. For those who’ve made a similar jump, what were some of the less obvious challenges you faced?

I’m guessing the physical demands are a given, but I’m curious about the mental side like how you handle the shift from a controlled lab environment to something so unpredictable. And for someone used to precise sound editing, does the chaos of extreme sports ever feel overwhelming? Any tips for bridging that gap?

Oh great, another lab nerd thinking they can just “jump” into extreme sports like it’s some fun little experiment. Newsflash – your precious precision won’t save you when gravity decides it’s had enough of your nonsense!
