So, I spend my days designing window displays and my free time tinkering with audio gear or exploring forests pretty far from the gaming world. But lately, I’ve been curious about diving into gaming as a hobby. For those who’ve made a similar leap, what were some of the less obvious hurdles you faced?
I’m especially curious about how skills from creative or technical fields might translate (or not) into gaming. Does spatial awareness from visual merchandising help with game design? Or does tweaking audio setups give you an edge in sound design for games? On the flip side, what totally caught you off guard when you started?
Also, as someone who’s used to hands-on, tactile work, I wonder if the shift to a screen-based hobby feels restrictive or freeing. Would love to hear your experiences!
