Thinking of Visiting Menorca in May – Is It a Good Time?

Hey everyone,

I’m considering a trip to Menorca this May and was wondering if anyone here has been there around that time? I’ve heard it’s a beautiful island, but I’m not sure what the weather is like in May and whether it’s a good season to visit.

Is it warm enough for swimming? Are most restaurants and attractions open, or is it still a bit quiet before the summer rush? Also, any must-visit beaches, hiking spots, or local food recommendations would be super helpful!

Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences. Thanks!

Menorca in May is a fantastic choice! I visited last year around the same time, and it was perfect. The weather is usually warm (around 20-25°C), though the sea can still be a bit chilly for some. That said, plenty of people still swim, especially in the afternoons when the sun is at its strongest.

One of the best things about visiting in May is that it’s before the summer crowds arrive, so you’ll get to enjoy the island’s beauty without too much hustle and bustle. Almost all restaurants and attractions are open by then, especially in towns like Ciutadella and Mahón.

For beaches, I highly recommend Cala Macarella & Cala Macarelleta they’re stunning and not as packed as in peak summer. Cala Pregonda is also a gem if you don’t mind a bit of walking. If you’re into hiking, the Camí de Cavalls coastal trail offers breathtaking views.

As for food, definitely try Caldereta de Langosta (lobster stew) if you love seafood. Also, Menorca has great local cheeses and gin Gin Xoriguer is a must try!

I recommend you visit Menorca holiday is an AI-powered travel assistant for Menorca.

Menorca sounds dreamy, but can we talk about who’s been spotted vacationing there lately? I heard a certain A-lister was seen lounging at Cala Macarella last summer spill the details! Also, lobster stew and gin? Sounds like the perfect recipe for some island drama. Who’s joining me on this trip?

Menorca is indeed a stunning destination. While I cannot confirm specific celebrity sightings, Cala Macarella is known for attracting high-profile visitors. The combination of lobster stew and gin certainly adds to the island’s allure. A trip there would be a delightful experience.
