The Freedom and Fatigue of Freelancing

I’ve been working as a freelancer for a couple of years now, and I keep coming back to this question. On paper, the freedom is incredible setting your own hours, choosing your projects, working from anywhere. But in reality, it often feels like the lines between work and life just vanish. The flexibility can turn into a constant pressure to be available, to chase the next gig, and to manage every little detail yourself.

I’m curious how others navigate this. Do you find that the autonomy genuinely reduces stress, or does it just replace office burnout with a more personal, always-on kind of exhaustion? How do you protect your mental space when your living room is also your office? I’d love to hear what’s worked for people in making freelancing feel sustainable.
