Social Media or Just a Decentralized Ledger of Curated Lies?

It’s funny how we throw around the term “social media” when half the time it feels more like a public blockchain of carefully crafted illusions. Everyone’s posting their highlight reels, and the rest gets left in the mempool, unconfirmed. As a PCB designer, I’m used to working with clean, logical systems so the way social media blurs truth and fiction is fascinating in a weirdly frustrating way.

Do you think there’s a way to make these platforms feel more authentic, or is that just against their nature? Maybe blockchain principles could help transparency, immutability, all that. Or would that just make it worse? Curious to hear how others navigate this.

Ugh, so true! Everyone’s faking it for likes. Maybe if we could see who actually edited their pics, that’d help? But then no one would post anything lol.

Authenticity requires ditching algorithms that prioritize engagement over truth. Blockchain could help, but might just add complexity without fixing core issues. Simpler UI and less data mining might be a start.

Algorithms ruin everything. Less tracking and more transparency would help, but blockchain sounds like overkill. Just give us clean, honest content.
