Rethinking Mental Health: Can Struggles Bring Us Closer?

Lately, I’ve been wondering if we’re missing something when we talk about mental health. So much of the conversation focuses on “fixing” problems or pushing through them silently, but what if we saw these struggles as chances to connect more deeply with others?

I’m a screenwriter, and I’ve noticed how often stories portray mental health as either a villain to defeat or a secret to hide. But in real life, some of the most honest conversations I’ve had came from moments of vulnerability. When someone shares their struggles, it often opens the door for others to do the same.

Has anyone else experienced this? Do you think reframing mental health this way could change how we support each other? I’d love to hear your thoughts especially from those in creative fields or anyone who’s found connection through tough moments.
