It’s wild how much the gaming landscape has shifted. A decade ago, it felt like every other release was trying something new whether it was weird mechanics, bold storytelling, or just taking a swing on a fresh idea. Now? So many titles play it safe, sticking to proven formulas and stuffing in microtransactions instead of pushing boundaries.
I get why studios lean into sequels and live-service models it’s less risky financially. But as someone who loves adventure (both in games and real life), it’s hard not to miss that sense of discovery.
