Quality leather shoes vs. public transit floors

So, I’m a bit torn on this. I love a good pair of leather shoes they’re comfortable, they last, and they look great. Plus, I spend a lot of time on my feet for work and hiking, so support matters. But lately, every time I step onto the bus or subway, I can’t help but think about what’s on the floor. It feels like a losing battle to keep anything clean.

Do you all still invest in nicer footwear if you rely on transit daily? Is there a secret to keeping them in good shape, or is it just not worth the hassle? I’m curious how others balance practicality with wanting something that doesn’t fall apart in a year.
