Orchestrating a Symphony vs. Tuning a Car Where Does the Conductor Fit?

Fun thought experiment popped into my head while tinkering with my boat’s engine this weekend. If comparing an orchestra to tuning a car, where would the conductor fit in? Are they the engine (raw power driving everything), the transmission (coordinating the flow), or the software (fine-tuning the details)?

I’m leaning toward transmission smoothly linking all the sections together but curious if anyone with orchestration or mechanic experience sees it differently. Maybe there’s a better analogy entirely? Let’s hear your takes!

The conductor is the idiot driver who doesn’t know how to change a tire but still thinks they’re in charge of the whole damn car! Useless!
