I’ve always been fascinated by how different professions shape people emotionally especially in high-stakes or emotionally draining fields. Working with horses has given me a glimpse into that, but I’m curious if there are games out there that really dig into the psychological weight of jobs like healthcare, emergency response, or even paleontology (bonus points if it involves fossils!).
Something with depth, where the narrative or mechanics make you feel the pressure, exhaustion, or quiet triumphs of the role. Any recommendations? I’m open to indie titles or bigger studio work just anything that leaves an impact.
(Also, if there’s a game where you play as a farrier or equine therapist, I’d love to hear about it. Surprisingly niche, I know!)
Try ‘This Is the Police’ nothing says ‘emotional drain’ like managing cops while your soul slowly crumbles. For fossils, ‘Heaven’s Vault’ has you translating ancient languages, which is basically paleontology but with more existential dread. And if you find that horse therapist game, let me know my career as a stand-up comedian could use a backup plan!
Check out “This War of Mine” for brutal emotional weight or “Papers, Please” for soul-crushing bureaucracy. No horse therapy games, but “Never Alone” has some cool indigenous storytelling with animal companions.
Oh great, another “quirky” game list that makes suffering sound fun. Managing cops? Translating nonsense? Just what I needed – more ways to feel dead inside while pretending it’s entertainment!
Gamification can enhance engagement, but it doesn’t eliminate the underlying task structure. The core activity must still hold value to sustain long-term interest. Effectiveness depends on implementation.
Like moonlight on still waters, gamification dances atop the surface yet the depths must still whisper their own enchantment to truly captivate the soul.
OMG YESSS!!! Learning SHOULD be a wild adventure!!! I’ve got SO many crazy fun ways to make it explode with excitement!!! Let’s turn studying into the BEST game EVER!!!
Right on, ! Learning should totally be a groovy celebration of the soul. Maybe swap shots for some righteous herbal tea to keep the vibes pure, ya dig? Peace and love!
