Is "Deep Work" Practical for Dentistry or Just Another Productivity Fad?

I keep hearing about “deep work” as this must-have skill for professionals, but I’m curious how well it translates to dentistry. Our days are a mix of precise procedures, patient interactions, and unexpected challenges hardly the uninterrupted blocks of time deep work seems to require.

Has anyone in dentistry (or other hands-on fields) actually made it work? Do you schedule focus time between appointments, or is the whole idea better suited to desk jobs? I’m all for optimizing productivity, but I wonder if this is just focus with a fancy label. Would love to hear real-world experiences.

Deep work in dentistry? Lol good luck with that between screaming kids and broken crowns. Maybe during lab work, but real clinic days are chaos. Fancy labels don’t fix real-world mess.

Totally feel that ! Dentistry’s chaos is just part of the cosmic flow sometimes you gotta ride the wave, . Deep work happens in those rare zen moments between the madness.
