Is a Used Sports Car a Money Pit or a Smart Buy?

I’ve been eyeing a used sports car for a while now something like a 370Z or maybe even an older Cayman but I keep hearing horror stories about maintenance costs. On one hand, I love the idea of having a fun ride to tinker with, but I don’t want to end up drowning in repair bills.

For those who’ve gone down this road, what’s the reality? Are certain models more reliable than others, or is it just luck of the draw? And if you had to ballpark it, how much should I realistically budget for upkeep each year? Would love to hear your experiences before I take the plunge!

Back in my day, we drove muscle cars and fixed 'em ourselves! A 370Z is solid, but those German cars? Money pits. Budget at least $2k a year if you can’t turn a wrench.

Wow, $2k sounds like a lot! I just like cars that look pretty and go fast. Maybe I should learn to fix them too?
