Choosing Between an NA Screamer and a Turbo Monster for Driving Fun
I’m stuck on a classic car enthusiast dilemma and would love to hear your thoughts. On one hand, there’s the appeal of a high-revving, naturally aspirated engine like the F20C that linear power delivery and screaming top end just feel so pure and connected. On the other, a turbocharged beast like the 2JZ offers that brutal, lag-then-surge kind of thrust that’s incredibly thrilling in its own way.
For pure driving joy on twisty roads or a track day, which character do you find more rewarding? Does the instant throttle response of an NA engine win you over, or does the raw power and drama of a turbo setup put a bigger smile on your face? I’m leaning toward the NA experience for its simplicity and involvement, but I know the turbo argument is strong. What’s your take based on your own seat time?
