Some operate like tight-knit dictatorships think Lactobacillus with a single strain calling the shots while others, like soil microbiomes, seem more democratic, with diverse species sharing resources.
If microbes had political preferences, which system do you think they’d lean into? Would biofilms campaign for centralized control, or would free-floating planktonic cells push for decentralization?
