If attraction is partly biological, how do we reconcile it with societal expectations of ‘inclusive’ dating preferences?" (Genetics + inclusion tension.)

How do we balance biological attraction with inclusive dating ideals?

I work in finance, but I’ve always been fascinated by genetics. It’s interesting to consider how much of our attraction might be wired in biologically things like scent, symmetry, or other subconscious cues. At the same time, there’s a strong push toward more inclusive dating preferences, encouraging people to look beyond traditional norms.

It feels like there’s a real tension here. If some preferences are deeply rooted, how do we consciously broaden them without feeling like we’re working against our own instincts? Is it about awareness, or is there more to it? I’d love to hear how others navigate this, especially if you’ve read up on the science or have personal experiences that shed some light.
