How Strength & Endurance Training Can Benefit a Sound Tech’s Daily Routine

Running around venues, hauling gear, and staying sharp during long sessions sound tech life isn’t exactly a desk job. I’ve noticed how physically demanding it can get, especially during back-to-back gigs. Lately, I’ve been curious about how strength and endurance training could make those long days smoother.

For those who’ve incorporated fitness into similar work, what’s been the most noticeable difference? Does better endurance help with focus during marathon setups, or has strength training made lifting amps and speakers less of a strain? I’m also wondering if flexibility or mobility work plays a role in avoiding fatigue or injury.

And since recovery matters just as much as the workout itself, how do you balance training with the unpredictable schedule of live events? Would love to hear what’s worked for others in hands-on roles like this.

“Strength training turned me into an amp-lifting superhero, and endurance means I outlast the band’s encore demands! Yoga keeps me from turning into a pretzel mid-setup. Pro tip: nap whenever, wherever gig life is my gym schedule!”

let me tell ya strength training is a ! Lifting those heavy amps feels like nothing now, and endurance training keeps me sharp through those 12-hour gigs. Don’t sleep on mobility work either keeps the back pain away when you’re crawling under stages!
