How Social Skills Can Enhance My Work as a Dialect Coach

I’ve been working as a dialect coach for a while now, and lately, I’ve been wondering how I can weave stronger social skills into my sessions. A lot of what I do involves building trust and making clients feel comfortable, especially when they’re tackling unfamiliar accents or speech patterns.

For those of you who work in coaching or teaching roles, how do you use social skills to create a better learning environment? Do you have any tricks for reading a client’s mood or adjusting your approach on the fly? I’d love to hear how others balance being personable while staying professional.

Also, if anyone has experience with level design (like me!), I’m curious whether you’ve noticed parallels between designing engaging spaces and guiding people through vocal exercises. Both seem to rely on pacing and feedback in similar ways.

Any insights or stories would be really helpful thanks in advance!
