Hey everyone,
So, I’ve been thinking a lot about how to get the most out of my barber visits lately. I’m sure some of you can relateyou sit down in the chair, they ask what you want, and suddenly you’re like, “Uh… just clean it up, I guess?” But honestly, I’ve got some specific concerns about my hair, and I want to make sure I’m communicating them clearly without sounding like I’m micromanaging.
For example, I’ve noticed my hairline is starting to thin a bit, and I’m not sure if I should go shorter to make it less obvious or keep some length to work with. Also, my hair tends to get super frizzy after surfing, so I’m wondering if there’s a cut or style that would make it easier to manage post-session.
I guess my question is: how do you guys approach these conversations with your barber? Do you bring in pictures? Do you just describe what’s bugging you and let them take the lead? I feel like I’m overthinking it, but at the same time, I don’t want to walk out with a cut that doesn’t work for my lifestyle or hair type.
Also, if anyone has tips for haircare routines that work well for surfers, I’m all ears. Saltwater and sun are brutal, and I’m trying to keep my hair looking decent without spending hours on maintenance.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
