Ghosting vs. 404 Error: Are We Justifying Rudeness with Tech Analogies?

Okay, so here’s a random thought that’s been bouncing around in my head maybe because I spend too much time online or because I’ve been binge-watching sci-fi lately. When someone ghosts you, is it really just the human equivalent of a 404 error? Like, “Sorry, this person is no longer available”? Or are we just dressing up plain old rudeness with fancy tech metaphors to make it sting less?

I get that people drift apart or lose interest, but ghosting feels so… abrupt. At least a 404 error gives you a clear message. With ghosting, you’re left wondering if you said something wrong, if they got abducted by aliens, or if they’re just avoiding you.

What do you all think? Is ghosting just a natural part of modern communication, or is it a sign that we’ve gotten way too comfortable ignoring basic courtesy? And hey, if you’ve got any tips for handling it (or avoiding doing it yourself), I’m all ears.
