From Stage to Gym: Is There a Strategy to Weightlifting?

I spend a lot of time in theater, where every light cue and sound effect is planned down to the second. It’s all about intention and timing. Lately, I’ve been hitting the gym more, and I can’t help but notice a contrast. I see people often really strong folks just heaving weights with what looks like pure momentum, no apparent plan for each rep. It leaves me wondering: is there a similar level of strategy in lifting? Should each movement have a specific purpose, like a stage cue, or is that overthinking it? I’m genuinely curious how more experienced lifters approach their sets. Do you plan the tempo, the pause, the focus on a particular muscle? I’d love to hear what makes your routine feel intentional.
