Forestry patience and long-term investing: any parallels?

Working with trees, especially giants like redwoods, really reshapes your sense of time. You plant a sapling knowing you might never see it reach maturity in your lifetime. That kind of patience isn’t passive; it’s about consistent, small actions protecting the soil, managing pests, trusting the process.

It got me wondering about building wealth over decades. Is there a similar mindset? In forestry, you can’t force growth; you just create the right conditions and wait. Does successful long-term investing work the same way? You set things up, contribute steadily, and then mostly leave it alone, even through storms or dry spells? I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience in both areas or has thoughts on cultivating that kind of long-view discipline.
