Are Fan Rituals a Kind of Modern Magic?
I run a small tech startup, and in my downtime, I’m pretty fascinated by the paranormal. It got me thinking about something I see all the time: the specific, almost ceremonial things fans do before a big game. You know, wearing the same lucky jersey every time, sitting in a certain spot, or eating the same meal. It’s clearly superstition, but when a whole stadium does it in unison, does it cross over into something else?
It feels like a shared, low-key ritual with a clear intention to influence the outcome. In a way, that’s not so different from older practices meant to sway fate. I’m curious what others think. Are we just seeing harmless tradition, or is there a sliver of genuine magical thinking in these modern crowd behaviors? Would love to hear your take.
