I’ve always been fascinated by how different fields demand unique kinds of endurance. As a network admin, I spend my days troubleshooting and staying focused for long stretches, but my hobbies theater and true crime got me thinking about physical and mental stamina in a new way.
Watching a live theater performance, I’m amazed at how actors maintain intense energy, vocal projection, and emotional expression for hours, often doing multiple shows a week. On the flip side, athletes train for peak physical output, speed, and strength, often in shorter bursts. It makes me wonder is it fair to compare them, or are we talking about completely separate skill sets? Can the endurance of a performer running a three-hour show really be measured against a marathon runner or a soccer player? I’d love to hear from anyone with experience in either area what does stamina mean to you, and how do you build it?
