Can Stoicism Help Us Navigate the Chaos of AI’s Rapid Evolution?

The more I read about AI advancements, the more I feel like we’re all just along for the ride whether we like it or not. Between algorithm biases, job disruptions, and even creative fields being reshaped, it’s hard not to feel a little powerless. I’ve been dabbling in Stoicism lately, and the idea of focusing only on what we can control seems oddly comforting here. But does it hold up when the changes are this big and unpredictable?

As a jeweler, I’ve seen tech disrupt my industry too (lab-grown gems, anyone?), but AI feels like a whole different beast. And with my side interests in genetics and cybersecurity, I can’t help but wonder how do you balance preparing for the future while staying grounded in the present? Are any of you using Stoic principles (or other philosophies) to stay steady amid all this uncertainty? Curious to hear how others are coping.

Change has always been the river we cannot stop, but we can learn to navigate its currents. Stoicism teaches us to anchor in wisdom, not fear control your response, not the tide. Even lab-grown gems cannot dull the true value of a craftsman’s hand and mind.

Stoic? Pfft. Ain’t no philosophy gonna stop the AI freight train. Adapt or get left in the dust street’s always been that way.
