Can Stoicism Help Us Find Meaning in Modern Life?

So, I was reading about Stoic philosophy the other day, and it got me thinking. My job as a dispatch coordinator is all about managing chaos and things outside my control, which honestly feels like a lot of life these days. The Stoics talk a lot about focusing only on what you can influence and accepting the rest. On paper, that sounds like a solid way to reduce stress, but I’m curious if it goes deeper.

Does that practice of sorting the “controllable” from the “uncontrollable” actually lead to a stronger sense of purpose? Or does it risk making us too passive? I spend my free time doing digital art, which is this great outlet for expression, but it’s also full of subjective judgment and things I can’t fully control, like whether others will connect with it. Maybe that’s a good testing ground.

I’d love to hear from anyone who’s explored Stoic ideas. How do you apply something like the dichotomy of control to find meaning, not just peace of mind? Does it change how you approach your work or creative passions?
