Best Ways to Structure Deload Weeks for Recovery Without Losing Gains

Deload weeks always feel like a balancing act cut back too much, and I worry about losing progress, but not enough, and recovery suffers. Right now, I usually drop intensity by about 10-20% while keeping volume similar, but I’m curious how others approach it.

Do you prioritize reducing volume, intensity, or a mix of both? And how do you adjust frequency stick to the same number of sessions or take extra rest days? I’ve heard some people even switch to entirely different movements for a week to keep things fresh. Would love to hear what’s worked for you!

I prefer a mix reduce intensity slightly but keep volume steady. Same number of sessions, just lighter. Switching movements can be refreshing, but consistency keeps the rust off.
