Athletes and Recovery After Cardio in Extreme Weather

I’ve noticed some athletes seem to skip proper recovery after intense cardio sessions, especially when training in really hot or cold conditions. I’m curious why does that happen? Is it a time issue, or maybe a misconception that they’re tough enough to push through?

From my work, I see how environmental stress compounds physical stress, and I wonder how skipping cool-downs, hydration, or sleep might impact performance when the weather itself is a major opponent. Does it increase injury risk or just lead to quicker burnout? Would love to hear from anyone who’s trained through heatwaves or freezing temps on what recovery steps they found non-negotiable.
