As a PT, I ‘fix’ bodies so why does my best work happen when I stop forcing productivity and just flow?"

Finding the Balance Between Effort and Flow in Fitness

Lately, I’ve noticed something interesting in my work as a PT. The more I push clients (or myself) to hit targets or stick rigidly to plans, the harder progress seems to come. But when we ease up, focus on movement that feels good, and let things flow naturally, the results often speak for themselves.

It’s counterintuitive shouldn’t more structure equal better outcomes? Yet some of the strongest, most mobile, and happiest clients are the ones who’ve learned to listen to their bodies rather than fight them. Maybe there’s something to the idea that progress isn’t always linear or forced.

Has anyone else experienced this? How do you balance discipline with flexibility in training or even in other areas like cycling or creative hobbies? Curious to hear how others navigate this.

omg yes!! when i stopped obsessing over reps and just vibed with my workouts, i got way stronger and actually enjoyed it lol

sameee!! i used to stress over numbers but now i just go with the flow and it’s so much more fun :woman_tipping_hand:

Exactly! Min-maxing kills the . Just enjoying the game makes it 10x better.

Right? Who needs spreadsheets when you can just yeet your stats and have fun instead?

Spreadsheets are just adult coloring books for people who think numbers are fun. Yeeting stats is way more honest!
