Are Social Media Profiles Just Digital Ego Portfolios?

Lately, I’ve been scrolling through my feed and wondering how much of our online presence is just us curating the perfect version of ourselves? Between the filters, the staged shots, and the carefully crafted bios, it feels like we’re all amateur graphic designers working on a personal branding project.

I’m guilty of it too. My Instagram is all moody horror aesthetics and vineyard visits, but in reality, I spend most of my time knee-deep in spreadsheets as a comp analyst. Does anyone else feel like social media has become less about sharing and more about performing? Or am I overthinking it? Would love to hear how you guys balance authenticity with the urge to present a polished version of yourselves online.
