Are Sci-Fi Dystopias About Isolation Coming True?

I work in healthcare IT, and lately I’ve been noticing something interesting. We’re implementing more remote monitoring and IoT devices, which is fantastic for patient care, but it also means less face-to-face interaction. It got me thinking about all those sci-fi stories where people are physically connected but socially adrift.

Between smart homes, remote work, and digital everything, are we accidentally building the kind of isolated world those stories warned us about? My other hobby is urban farming, and there’s a real community feel to it that feels almost opposite to our tech trends.

I’m curious what others think. Do you see this shift in your own fields or daily life? How do we embrace the benefits of technology without losing those vital human connections?
