So I’m a prop maker, which means my days are often spent on my feet, lifting materials, and doing a lot of detailed, hands-on work. It’s physically demanding in a very specific way. Lately, I’ve been trying to figure out the best approach to active recovery days. I see a lot of conflicting advice. Some people say your recovery should be completely different from your daily grind to give those specific muscles and mental patterns a real rest. Others suggest that low-intensity versions of your work activities like a casual hike for someone who’s on their feet all day can actually aid recovery better by promoting blood flow without the strain.
I’m curious what has worked for others, especially folks with physically intensive jobs or hobbies. Does a gentle version of what you already do feel restorative, or does it just feel like more of the same? What kind of activities have you found actually leave you feeling refreshed and ready to go?
