Stoicism seems like a great fit for managing stress in fast-paced fields like digital marketing, but I’ve hit a few roadblocks that surprised me. For one, the emphasis on accepting what you can’t control clashes with my instinct to optimize and tweak campaigns endlessly. Letting go of outcomes is harder than it sounds when your job revolves around metrics!
Also, as someone who spends a lot of time outdoors hiking, I’m used to solving problems on the fly bad weather, wrong turns, you name it. But Stoicism’s focus on inner resilience over external fixes feels counterintuitive when my first reaction is to “do something.”
Has anyone else in a similar field or with an active lifestyle struggled with this? How do you balance Stoic principles with the need to take action in work or hobbies? Curious to hear how others reconcile these tensions.
