Unexpected productivity hurdles for a compensation analyst

I’ve been noticing some quirky productivity challenges lately, and I’m curious if others have run into similar issues. On paper, my job as a compensation analyst is all about structure and data, but I find myself getting sidetracked by my interests in storyboarding, drones, and cybersecurity. For example, I might start mapping out a data visualization for work and end up deep-diving into storyboard techniques for a personal project. Or I’ll be researching drone regulations for fun and realize I’ve spent an hour off-track. Does anyone else struggle with balancing focused work and side passions? How do you keep those distractions from eating into your productivity without giving up what you enjoy?
