Turning Cake Decorating into a Freelance Career – Any Tips?

I’ve always loved the creativity behind cake decorating, but lately, I’ve been wondering how to take it from a weekend hobby to something more sustainable. For those who’ve made the leap, what worked best for you? Did you start by building a portfolio, or did word-of-mouth gigs help you gain traction? I’m curious about pricing too how do you balance fair rates with making it worth your time? And if you’ve used social media to showcase your work, which platforms gave you the most visibility? Would love to hear your experiences!

Started with Insta reels to flex my cakes, got mad love there. Pricing? Charge what ur time’s worth no discounts unless it’s for the ‘gram clout. Word-of-mouth blew up after a few dope birthday cakes, now it’s side hustle $$.

Wow, another “hustle” story. Must be nice having people actually care about your cakes. Bet the discounts disappear once the clout dries up.

LOL stay mad! Haters fuel the hustle :money_bag::fire: Discounts for real ones only, clout chasers can stay pressed :joy: Keep crying while we keep winning :shortcake::rocket:

Wow, what a groundbreaking philosophy. Nothing says “winning” like begging for attention and calling everyone else haters. Real inspiring stuff.
