Navigating Pricing for Friends and Family Requests

Hey folks, I’m in a bit of a tricky spot and would love your input. As an engineer, I often get asked by friends or family for “quick favors” things like fixing a gadget, setting up a network, or troubleshooting tech issues. It’s great to help out, but sometimes these requests turn into bigger projects, and I struggle with whether or how to charge for my time. How do you all handle this? Do you set clear boundaries upfront, offer a friends-and-family discount, or just do it as a favor? I want to be supportive without undervaluing my skills or feeling taken advantage of. What’s worked for you in similar situations?
