Muscle Soreness After a Workout – Love or Hate Relationship?

Ever finish a solid workout feeling like you’ve accomplished something, only to wake up the next day wondering if your muscles are thanking you or staging a rebellion? I’ve been there especially after a long day on the water guiding fishing trips, where my body gets a different kind of workout.

Is soreness just part of the process, a sign we’re pushing in the right direction, or is it the body’s way of saying we overdid it? I’m curious how others interpret it. Do you lean into the ache as proof of progress, or do you take it as a cue to dial things back? And for those who’ve found a sweet spot, what’s your secret active recovery, hydration, or something else?
