Muscle recovery and EV charging: any parallels?

So I’m a dental therapist by day, which means I spend a lot of time thinking about how small, consistent habits affect long-term health. Lately I’ve been applying that mindset to my workouts, and something crossed my mind.

I drive an EV, and I’ve learned that how you charge it like avoiding frequent fast charges and letting it cool down properly can really impact battery longevity and efficiency. It got me wondering: is muscle recovery similar? If you skip a proper cooldown or skimp on post-workout stretching and nutrition, are you effectively “degrading” your recovery efficiency over time, kind of like how poor charging habits can reduce an EV battery’s capacity?

I’d love to hear from anyone who’s looked into the science or has experience balancing intense training with sustainable recovery. Do you treat your cooldown as non-negotiable, or is it something you can occasionally skip without long-term drawbacks?
