Merging Fitness with Archaeology for a New Sport

I work in medical science, but my real passion outside the lab is archaeology. Lately, I’ve been wondering how to blend that interest with staying active. What if we created a sport that combines physical endurance with the methodical, discovery-based nature of a dig? Imagine a team-based challenge where you navigate an outdoor course, solving puzzles or interpreting maps to locate “artifacts,” but between each site, you have to complete a functional fitness task like carrying weighted sandbags or moving a heavy object a certain distance. It would be less about pure speed and more about strategy, teamwork, and varied physical effort. Does that sound appealing, or just overly complicated? I’d love to hear if anyone has tried something similar or has ideas on how to make the concept actually playable.
