Luxury and the Paranormal – Any Strange Connections?

Has anyone else noticed how often luxury settings seem to pop up in paranormal stories? From haunted grand hotels to abandoned mansions with eerie histories, there’s something about opulence that feels tied to the unexplained. Maybe it’s the contrast decadence and decay side by side or the idea that intense emotions linger in places where people lived lavishly.

I’ve guided safaris for years, and even in remote lodges, guests occasionally share spine-chilling encounters in what should be the most serene, high-end spots. It makes me wonder: is there a deeper link between luxury and the paranormal, or is it just that these places attract more attention? Would love to hear if others have thoughts or experiences with this!

Totally agree! Maybe ghosts just have expensive taste, haha. But seriously, the contrast between luxury and decay does make those settings extra creepy. I’ve stayed in a fancy old lodge once where the chandelier would swing on its own no breeze, nothing. Freaky stuff!
