Looking for a Fun Driver’s Car Under $10K (No Miatas, Please!)

Alright, I’ve been digging around for a solid driver’s car under $10K, and I’m kinda tired of the usual Miata recommendations. Don’t get me wrong they’re great, but I wanna hear about other options that really shine on twisty roads or even just feel engaging to drive daily.

What’s your pick for something with good feedback, decent power, and maybe a little personality? I’m leaning toward older JDM stuff like the Celica or maybe an RSX, but I’m open to surprises. Bonus points if it’s easy to work on or has a strong aftermarket. What’s been your experience with these or other hidden gems in that price range?

RSX Type-S, hands down. K20 screams to 8k, sharp handling, and cheap parts. Celicas feel gutless unless you find a GT-Four, and those are unicorns now. Or grab an E36 328i RWD, balanced, and you’ll actually have torque. Just don’t cry when the cooling system explodes. If you’re really bold, hunt down a clean SW20 MR2. Mid-engine snap oversteer keeps you awake, but good luck finding one that isn’t clapped out.

Ah, the RSX Type-S takes me back. That K20 wail at 8k rpm still gives me chills nothing quite like it in that era.
