Working as an equine therapist means long hours on my feet, guiding sessions that require both physical stamina and mental focus. I’ve noticed that lifting hay bales, adjusting equipment, and keeping up with the horses can take a toll, especially after back-to-back appointments. I’m curious how have others used strength and endurance training to make this kind of work easier?
I’m especially interested in exercises that improve core stability and grip strength, since those seem to be the areas that fatigue first. Does anyone have experience with functional fitness routines that translate well to barn work? And for endurance, would steady-state cardio (like cycling or jogging) be more helpful, or should I focus on interval training to mimic the stop-and-go nature of sessions?
Bonus question: Any tips for fitting workouts into an unpredictable schedule? Some days are packed with clients, and others are spent catching up on paperwork. Would love to hear what’s worked for others in similar roles!
