How important is confidence when setting prices or negotiating?

I’m just starting to freelance as an illustrator, and I keep second-guessing my rates. How much does confidence really affect negotiations or pricing your work? Do you fake it till you make it, or is there a better approach?

Confidence is everything clients can sense hesitation. Start with rates that feel fair but push yourself to charge more as you gain experience. Fake it till you make it works, but always back it up with solid work.
