How Does Culture Influence Perceptions of Confidence in Leadership?

I’ve always been fascinated by how differently confidence comes across depending on where you are in the world. In my work, I’ve seen leaders who command attention with bold, direct communication, while others exude quiet authority through subtle cues. It makes me wonder how much of what we perceive as “strong leadership” is actually shaped by cultural norms?

For example, in some cultures, speaking loudly and taking up space might signal confidence, while in others, restraint and listening could be seen as more authoritative. Has anyone else noticed these contrasts, either in professional settings or even social ones? I’d love to hear your experiences or insights, especially if you’ve worked or lived in multiple cultural contexts. What’s stood out to you?
