Has Digital Communication Made It Harder to Grow Meaningful In-Person Connections?

It’s interesting how much of our communication happens through screens these days. I work in agricultural economics, and I’ve noticed parallels between nurturing relationships and cultivating crops both need the right conditions to thrive. But with so many interactions happening online, I wonder if we’re losing some of the depth that comes from face-to-face connection.

Do you find it harder to build strong, in-person relationships when so much of our communication is digital? Or does tech actually help bridge gaps, like irrigation for a dry field? I’d love to hear how others balance the two especially those who’ve found ways to keep their offline connections as rich as their online ones.

Like love letters lost to texts, screens can dull the warmth of a gaze yet sometimes, digital whispers sow seeds that bloom in person. Balance is the sun and rain; both are needed for the garden of connection to flourish.
