How Much Do Genes Really Shape Our Choices?
Lately, I’ve been diving into the intersection of genetics and behavior, and it’s left me with more questions than answers. If our genes predispose us to certain tendencies whether it’s impulsivity, anxiety, or even addiction how much room does that leave for genuine free will? And where does moral responsibility come into play when biology might be pulling the strings?
As someone who works in healthcare, I see how deeply biology influences people’s lives, but I also believe in personal accountability. It feels like a paradox. Do you think we overestimate how much control we actually have, or is there still meaningful choice within our genetic framework? Would love to hear your thoughts, especially from anyone with a psychology or genetics background!
