This is something I’ve been turning over in my head lately. On one hand, I love the idea of using engaging mechanics to build a habit my background in formulation is all about creating effective, user-friendly systems, and my hobbies definitely lean into interactive design. So, part of me sees the logic: if a points system or a streak counter gets someone to meditate regularly, that’s a positive outcome, right?
But then I wonder if the external reward starts to overshadow the internal practice. The core of mindfulness seems to be about non-judgmental awareness and being present without an agenda. If you’re focused on maintaining a streak or earning a badge, are you still truly engaging with that intention, or just performing a task?
I’d love to hear from others who might have tried these apps. Did the gamified elements help you build a consistent practice, or did you find they eventually became a distraction from the mindfulness itself?
